August 1st is the annual Cycle to Work event. The day is about getting on your bike and trying a new way of commuting!
Even if you can’t cycle to work why not get involved and cycle to the shops, to see a friend or just for fun
5 Tips for a Successful Cycle to Work Day:
1.PLAN YOUR ROUTE – Before you set off, familiarise yourself with your local cycle routes. Use the resources on the ‘Travel By Bike Page‘ or Google Maps to plan your route.

4. LEARN TO LOCK YOUR BIKE – No one wants their bike stolen or damaged, therefore knowing how to safely and securely lock and store your bike is vital. The type of cycle parking available will depend on your place of work or destination you are travelling to, but why not familiarise yourself with locking your bike by clicking here – Bike Locking Guidance
5. DO YOU KNOW THE RULES OF THE ROAD? – The highway safety code doesn’t just apply to cars, it applies to bikes too. Understanding how to keep safe when cycling on the road is essential not only for your safety but for others.
