Boost Your Mood This January

January 12th 2024

January is often perceived to be a tough month for people with the days dark, the weather cold, and the pressures of a New Year.

Whether you believe in Blue Monday or not, getting active this January can provide a wide range of benefits including boosting your mood.

Going outside and getting moving can help create endorphins so why not try these ideas out and you may see some of the benefits of being active:

1. Create a Step/Activity Goal – Do you have a New Year’s Resolution to exercise more? Why not set yourself a tangible challenge and see how many steps you can complete this month?

Or fancy getting into running, Couch to 5k is a great resource to help you out this winter.

 2. Get Cycling and Learn a New Skill– Cycling is not only great for your health but can also help in boosting your mood. So why not dust off your bike and go on a ride?

 3. Connect with Nature – You don’t have to set yourself a challenge to see the benefits of being outside.

Why not put on your favorite songs or use mindfulness apps such as Headspace or Calm whilst exploring your local area?

 4. Go for a Walk with a Friend – You don’t have to get active this January alone!

Talking to friends and family can be helpful in feeling positive, so why not catch up by grabbing a coffee and going for a walk?

5. Do Something for your Local Community – Helping others can be a great mood boost.

Next time you’re on a bike ride or a walk why not pick up a few bits of litter and do something good for your community?
